The two-day training meeting for 120 distributors of Panasonic Poland took place on the premises of the Manufaktura in Łódź, which once was a huge cotton mill. Today it is a vibrant cultural and commercial centre with its countless restaurants, shops and entertainment venues.
Conference guests were living in a modern hotel Andels****, which combines the austerity of the walls of the old spinning mill with modern designer furnishings. In the spacious hotel ballroom there were held demonstrations of the latest Panasonic products. The exhibition was dominated by plasma TVs. Visitors could watch 3D presentations in mini cinema arranged specially for them. They were testing digital cameras, photographing dancers and models on the stage.
The social evening was organised in the club located in a former power station building Elektrownia. During the event, the guests watched the dance and acrobatic performances, and listened to the concert of the popular local band.
On the next day morning in hotel conference rooms there were held specialized training sessions for traders.

The meeting was closed up with a lunch served in a mini brewery in Manufaktura.
The charm of the place and the smooth organization helped to fulfil the business goals of the convention.

We are planting trees after the congress

On May 19th the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz witnessed a special event related to last year’s Congress. The local organisers of the Congress planted several trees which for many years to come will remind that the 49th European Congress of the European Regional Science Assotiation was organised in line with green conference requirements.

The Local Organising Committee decided to organise this event in line with the BS 8901 standard. Implementation of the standard was entrusted to Meeting Designers, a dedicated conference organiser.

The major differences between a standard conference and a green one lie in the fact that organising a green event requires undertaking several actions aiming at reducing the negative environmental impact of the event and supporting the local society. The examples of actions taken when organising the last year’s Congress are: conference materials made from biodegradable resources, recycling unused conference materials, saving electricity by using rooms with access to sunlight, promoting local cultural heritage through organising technical excursions, segregating waste, planting trees as a way to offset the CO2 emission.

The meeting was the second of the series of discussion panels organized within the project “Expert Panels”. It was financed from the European Social Fund. Meeting Designers was responsible for preparing the invitations, conference materials, presentation devices, catering and final reporting after the conference.

December 2009

On the 11th of December 2009 during the gala evening organised in Warsaw took place a ceremony of granting the winners prizes in the annual competition for the title of MICE POLAND Personality of the 2009 Year. The nominations were granted in three categories: Meeting Planner, Customer and Venue Manager.

With a great pleasure we would like to inform that the winner in the category Meeting Planner of the Year is Maciej Ogieniewski managing director of Business Travel & Entertainment and CEO of Meeting Designers.

The reasons given by the jugdging committe in its report are like follows: „Maciej Ogieniewski contributes very actively to the developement od MICE market. He shares his knowledge. He is active in MPI, working not only for his business but also supporting the developement of the whole meeting sector.

He is present during the Polish and international industry events, very often as a referee. He promotes CSR. His enterprise, as the first on the Polish market, coordinated the congress according the British Standard 8901. He is very well organised, helpful, creative, reliable – as confirm his business partners and also competitors. He knows how to keep the balance between professional and private life.
